National Fire Prevention Week

fire
"Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere," is an easy to remember campaign slogan that could save your life.  This week, October 7-13, 2018 is the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) Fire Prevention Week (FPW). The NFPA has sponsored this awareness week for nearly a century as an homage to the Great Chicago Fire. The 2018 FPW campaign aims to educate people about three basic, yet essential, steps to take to reduce the probability of having a fire...

The essay doesn't have to be written though! It can also be a digital essay – spoken into a camera instead of typed on a computer. The only requirements for eligibility for the essay opportunity are that the submission is from a student that has completed one of CareerSafe's four OSHA-10 courses and they have a sponsor. That sponsor can be a teacher, mentor, advisor, or even ...

Whether it is in class, at work or online, our hope is for students to be able to identify safety concerns and be able to properly navigate them. However, sometimes those concerns can be a little too much for students to handle. One of the biggest safety issues in schools across the nation is bullying. According to stopbullying.gov , bullying is "unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged child...
