Frequently Asked Questions

OSHA requires that a student must meet the mandatory seat time (10 or 30 hours based on the course), complete all course topics, pass the Final Assessment, and submit the Course Survey in order to successfully complete an OSHA 10-Hour/30-Hour course. Once completed, you will immediately have access to a course completion certificate, which is proof of course completion, and your OSHA card will be mailed within two business days.

Most OSHA cards are shipped within two business days of course completion to the shipping address of the person who purchased the course. Due to US Postal Service processing time, it may take one-to-three weeks for you to receive your OSHA card. 

If you took the course as part of a class, then your OSHA card was shipped to your instructor. Please contact your instructor if you did not receive your OSHA completion card.

You must complete all topics, pass the Final Assessment, and submit the Course Survey to complete the OSHA course. If you haven't received your OSHA card, make sure that the course status in the CareerSafe Campus shows as Completed. An OSHA card will not be sent until the course shows as completed.

1. Sign in to the account you are keeping.
2. Click Account Information.
3. Click User Properties.
4. Click Merge Accounts.
5. Enter the email address for the account to be merged and click Continue.
6. Enter the password of the account to be merged and click Continue.
7. If there are any conflicts between the accounts (i.e., if both accounts are enrolled in the same course), you will need to select the record that needs to be kept after the merger.
8. Click Continue.
9. You will see a merge confirmation page showing all the courses that will remain after the merger. Click Submit and confirm the permanent account merger. WARNING: This cannot be undone.

OSHA mandates that a student has only three attempts to pass the final assessment in an OSHA course. If this is your first time in remediation, your instructor can reset your course for a free, one-time retake of the OSHA course.

If you purchased the course for yourself, contact Customer Care for your free course reset.

If you are logged into the CareerSafe Campus, click the Account Info link from your Home page. Next, click the User Properties link and using that tool, you may change your email address.

As an instructor or administrator, you have the ability to enroll students in course seats that you own in one of three ways:

• you can invite students to enroll using a teacher code;
• enroll a single student using the Add Student tool; or
• upload a spreadsheet to bulk enroll students with the Student Enrollment Tool.

Teachers and administrators can exchange seats from one CareerSafe course to another within the same course library (e.g., OSHA 10-Hour, Employability Skills). The following conditions apply:

• No student is enrolled in the seat, or the enrolled student has completed less than 50% of the course content.
• The student enrolled in the seat has not previously had the course reset.
• The seat is not in a third-party course (see below).

OSHA 30-Hour Construction, HAZWOPER 8-Hour Refresher, and First Aid Courses. Due to the OSHA 30-Hour Construction, HAZWOPER 8-Hour Refresher, and the First Aid courses being provided through a third-party provider, CareerSafe is unable to clear or exchange seats in those courses.

Expired seats are not eligible for an extension. Make sure that your student starts the course before a seat expires to get the full value of the training.

For OSHA 10-Hour courses, a student has an OSHA-mandated 180 days to complete their training once they start the course.

OSHA mandates that a student has only three attempts to pass the final assessment in an OSHA course. If the student fails their three allotted attempts, then the student will be placed in remediation. If a student is in remediation, an instructor will see a “Students in Remediation” section on their CareerSafe Campus homepage. If this is the students first time in remediation, the instructor can reset the student's course for a free, one-time retake of the OSHA course.

Note: Resetting a student's course will clear their progress and they will need to repeat the full course.

Instructors can enable the Student Time on Page (STOP) feature to prevent students from being able to advance to the next page within a course until they have met the minimum time on the page. This forces the student to go linearly through the course content and prevents a student from simply clicking through course pages rapidly. The time on page is determined by the audio and/or amount of content on each page.

Each topic within a course has a required seat time. To unlock the Topic Assessment, students must spend the specified amount of time working on that topic. The required seat time for each topic is listed on the topic page. If you have completed all the modules, but are still short on seat time, you may work on the Resources modules included in each topic until you reach the minimum seat time.

If your course status is in remediation, it means you have not passed your OSHA Final Assessment within the three allotted attempts. OSHA regulations require that you must pass the Final Assessment within three attempts or you will need to retake the course. Fortunately, CareerSafe provides one free retake if you are in remediation.

Your instructor may reset your course for you. If you are taking the course as an individual, contact Customer Care for your free reset.

Issues with seat time not counting are most frequently encountered by those using iPads and iPhones. On these devices, we recommend using Safari, as the Chrome and Firefox browsers don’t appear to always track seat time appropriately.

CareerSafe offers a School License model that allows a single, physical school an unlimited number of seats to courses within a Course Library (e.g., Employability Skills, Cyber Safety Awareness). This one-time, School License price allows all the students within a single school access to all training within the Course Library.
